Auburn Real Estate
One of the “Twin Cities” along with Lewiston, Auburn is the county seat of Androscoggin County. Situated on the Androscoggin River directly across from Lewiston, this robust New England town is steadily growing while the economy becomes increasingly stronger. This city has everything any person or family could ever need. Once you are here, you will know why. Just take a look around at the untouched beauty of the quiet lakes and northern mountains.
The climate of this area allows the seasons to be refreshingly distinct, from the colorful, flower-covered fields of spring and summer to the majestic leaves and snows of fall and winter. Here, you can partake in many recreational activities and appreciate the pristine parks and wilderness areas. In town, there are various year-round festivals and parades accompanied by historical museums, top-notch dining establishments, accomplished theatrical performances, and some of the friendliest locals you will ever run into. And with the two biggest cities in the state less than an hour away, absolutely anything is possible.

Auburn is named for an old post-colonial Yorkshire village settled in 1786. It became a city in 1868 by annexing land from surrounding towns and villages, including Poland, Minot, and the entirety of Danville. This allowed Auburn to become one of Maine’s largest municipalities. Auburn expanded as a mill town in the 1800s and attracted many French-Canadian residents. The factory system of shoe manufacturing was started here in 1835, and Auburn was the first city in the state to establish a council-manager style of government.
